In this project, we had the good fortune to intervene in one of the most emblematic bookstores in our city. Nothing more and nothing less than at its counter, the central piece of this small shop's space.
The counter had to function as a bookshelf, and we decided to draw on our previous experiences, knowing that complex profile frameworks provide a powerful and iconic image without overloading the space.
We were fortunate that Enrique (the client) suggested an element we had never considered: the inclination of the shelves. This element was undoubtedly what articulated and became the protagonist of this project. Functionally, it provides better visibility of the book spines, and aesthetically, it breaks the orthogonal grid, generating great dynamism in the profile framework.
The structure consists of 5 main elements that form the vertical structure, a slatted horizontal structure, and shelves with inclined backstops at 17º in each of the structure's cells. It is finished with a solid ash top.
Are you excited by the geometry and complexity of this structure?
We believe this idea can be perfectly adapted from a shop counter format to a bookshelf or display cabinet format focused on storing books or vinyl records in your home. In fact, we think we are probably missing many furniture formats that could be resolved with a similar structure to this one.
If you are thinking of acquiring a wall-mounted bookshelf or a low piece of furniture, regardless of its size, whether for storing books or records, and you like this type of structure, contact us, as we are eager to continue working on this idea to create new pieces with you.
